Gaming Materials
A listing of required, approved, and miscellaneous gaming materials.  Amazon.com seems to consistently have the best prices.  Check out their D&D store here, or click on each book to be brought to that specific page at Amazon.com.
REQUIRED
The Player's Handbook is the only book that a player in my campaign is required to have.  There are other books that are optional, and some that are informative as to gameplay and background, but you will not be able to play at all without the PHB.
OPTIONAL
The Monster Manual is a great resource for learning about the type of creatures you will face, but it is not a required book for players.  If you never purchase this book, you will not be at a loss in my campaign.
RECOMMENDED
Sword & Fist is the class specific handbook for fighters and monks.  As with all class books, there are new feats and prestige classes that are approved for my campaign.  If you are going to be plthe final production cover.  Amazon must have used and early version and never updaying a monk or fighter, take a look at this book.  [Note: The cover shown is not ated it.]
RECOMMENDED
Defenders of the Faith is the class handbook for paladins and clerics.  New spells, feats & prestige classes are included.  Recommended for anyone playing a cleric, paladin, or who may wish to multiclass into one of the divine-oriented prestige classes described in the book.
RECOMMENDED
Tome and Blood is the class handbook for sorcerers and wizards.  A lot of new material is here, including spells, good prestige classes and magic specific feats.  A must look for arcane magic users.
RECOMMENDED
The Living Greyhawk Gazetteer contains the base information for the world (geographical and political) in which my campaign takes place.  (Note that the cover here is not the final production version).
